About

Our Vision

Our vision is that every region in the State of Virginia has an aligned, coordinated care network that optimizes the care experience, health outcomes, and utilization of clinical and community-based services for every pregnant and postpartum individual using a person-centered approach.

Our Approach

The Maternal Quality Care Alliance is a coalition of healthcare providers, researchers, and advocates committed to improving maternal health outcomes in Virginia. Our team works to advance evidence-based practices, policy changes, and increase community engagement to ensure that all women and birthing people have access to high-quality, equitable community-based support during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, we aim to address the systemic factors that contribute to maternal mortality and morbidity, and to create a future where every family can thrive.

Our Priorities

We are strengthening the system through the co-implementation of strategies which dismantle harmful practices and create new practices that support child-bearing age, pregnant and postpartum people.

  1. Achieve Health Equity
  2. Prioritize Community Voice
  3. Educate and Support
  4. Advocate and Co-design
